- How is the Honor Flight funded?

Collier/Lee Honor Flight is a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit. All funding comes from individuals, corporations, and organizations. Every dollar goes directly to supporting flight missions for veterans.
Veteran Eligibility
- Who is eligible to go as a veteran?
-
All U.S. military veterans may apply. Flight assignment is prioritized in this order:
- World War II
- Korean War
- Cold War
- Vietnam War
Terminally ill veterans are given top priority, regardless of service era.
Note: There is currently a waitlist for Vietnam veterans. Contact us after applying for status updates.

Indemnity Form
Every veteran is required to complete and submit the "Indemnity Form" before they can go on a mission to Washington, DC. with Collier-Lee Honor Flight. Every guardian is required to complete and submit the “indemnity form” for each mission they go on.
The online applications (guardian, veteran, volunteer or veteran honor at home) include the indemnity form. If you have already completed and submitted any of the online applications, you do NOT have to complete a separate indemnity form.

Scheduling
- When will I be scheduled for a flight?

- WWII, Korean War, and terminally ill veterans: Scheduled on the next available flight.
- Vietnam veterans: Scheduled by service date. Wait times may apply.
Flight Details
- Which airport do we use?

All flights depart from, and return to, Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers, FL.
- What memorials do we visit on flight day?

Veterans typically visit:
- WWII Memorial
- Korean War Memorial
- Vietnam Veterans Memorial
- U.S. Marine Corps Memorial
- U.S. Air Force Memorial
- Arlington National Cemetery, including the Changing of the Guard. Occasionally, we have the honor of laying a wreath at ANC.
Note: Itinerary may vary due to circumstances.
What to Bring and Wear
- What should I bring?

- Valid ID: Driver’s license, REAL ID, or Military ID
- Medications: Bring a 2-day supply
Meals, snacks, water, and weather gear are provided. Special diets are accommodated as best as possible.
- What should I wear?

- Veterans: Red polo shirt, jacket, campaign hat, and lanyard (all items provided), long pants, closed toe shoes
- Guardians: White shirt (provided), long pants, closed toe shoes
- Staff: Yellow shirts (for identification), long pants, closed toe shoes
Health and Accessibility
- Can I still fly if I have health concerns?

Yes. Medical information is reviewed for all applicants. A doctor’s note may be required. Veterans using oxygen must bring a battery-powered concentrator. Backup units are provided.
- Are wheelchairs available?

Yes. CLHF provides wheelchairs as needed. We cannot accommodate personal wheelchairs or walkers.
Guardians
- What are the qualifications for serving as a guardian?

- Be 18+ years old
- Attend mandatory training ten days before the flight
- Be physically capable of assisting all day
- Spouses/significant others may not serve as guardians
- Selection priority is given to those who are medically trained, active or retired military, guardians who have previously flown, and eligible family members
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with boarding and mobility
- Helping with wheelchairs and water
- Attending to the safety and welfare of their veteran all day.
- What is the cost for a guardian?

A $500 tax-deductible donation is required. It covers:
- Airfare
- Ground transportation
- Insurance
- Meals and supplies
Honor at Home
- What if a veteran can’t travel but wants to participate?
-
Our Honor at Home program allows veterans to participate without flying. The program occurs during the evening of flight day at RSW and includes:
- Video highlights from D.C.
- A delicious meal
- Music and a warm welcome home
- Many guest speakers

Yes! Join us at RSW at 4:45 am to wish veterans well before their 5:30 am departure.
